As you can see, her doll is very real looking. Non SS can do it too by using the 'Brave' makeup and asking around for SS to make them a simple cheek bone or nose line.

I agree that a lot of dolls look amazing with them, but others take it too far.
To achieve this look correctly, you should keep the colours brown and minimal makeup. Think about how you look in the mirror and where the shadows are.
Nikki and Lauren [Lollie-pop1234] have another great example of a real [but kept to a minimal] doll. I have circled the places they've added shading to make the doll look amazingly real. Simply by defining the eyes and cheeks is a great effective way of making your doll stand out.
But not only does the shading make for a great realistic doll, it's also the features. Think about where the eyes and lips are in proportion with the nose. Look on Google images for help too. Think about it, do the lips look real? Can your nose actually be that high up? Is that skin tone too light?
