Interesting Dolls #4

My latest doll look a like is Katniss Everdeen, a popular doll to do with many people trying to get the look, just type Katniss in the search and watch hundreds of results come up.

Katniss obviously doesn't wear much make up so if you're going to Hunger Games your doll, keep the makeup to browns. I defined some of her contour lines in the cheeks and nose to give a authentic real look. As for the outfit, I used the Hunger Games outfit given out a few months ago along with leggings and biker boots but a brown coat over a basic black top would work well too. 

Make-up Tutorial

This is a very simple black and white tutorial yet it looks real and effective. All you need to accomplish it is a black and white eyeshadow, black eyeliner and mascara.

1) Add about 3 or 4 layers of black eyeshadow in a neat rounded semi circle

2) Add about 2 or 3 layers of white eyeshadow, keeping close to the edge of the black but leaving a good visible line of black.

3) Add a generous amount of black eyeliner on the top of the eye and mascara and or false lashes.

We all panicked with buying as much make up as we could as the sale on all the old make up began and eventually disappeared. But not to worry because Stardoll have released a new Neon Range with colours green, blue and orange featuring. The colours are pretty difficult to work with as they truly are neon [a bit of blue blusher never hurt anyone!] but at least they brought back the basic white and black.

Here's an example using the blue I came up with. Try it yourself with the new colours, experiment!

Print trousers/ leggings

I read a few magazines where these were featured and I quite like them so I thought I would bring you this to show you the best ones you can find on stardoll.

They would really make a statement. So I would wear a plain tee minimal accessories. But these print trousers willbe perfect for a 80's outfit, to make it even better if you do go for this theme, wear chunky jewerly.

When is enough enough?

I made my doll look like a doll I saw which had covered itself in the hair to look 'real' and asked you all what you thought of it. When is enough enough on dolls looking real?

Kirsten stated "Subtlety is the key c: I just think that this is a website with cartoon dolls, not dolls covered in translucent hair trying to look 'real' :s" Kaylee, Sophie and Cass agreed.

Anji added ''Hm, I quite like it, though, it'd a bit dark, if it were lighter, I'd probably have it.." giving an interesting different view while Kaylee disagreed:

"Personally, it looks a bit over done. It's easier to have lighter shading, and have them individually bought, so you could pile them on. Everyone is trying to do realistic dolls, some of them I love, but some are just overdone, and look like plastic. :s"

Additionally, Georgia added "It looks really overdone for me aha. Some 'realistic dolls' actually look really nice and different, only some people can pull it off. But now everyone is tring to do them, and they look d!rty or plastic.I'd rather have a 'normal' doll than have something that looks stupid.Like Kirsten said, it should be subtle c:"

Personally I do agree that the example shown is far beyond real and is looking plain dirty but that might just be my dodgy making skills as I for one can never pull off the 'real' look. Dolls are taking the third dimension to extremes now and their doll is looking angry and dirty, 'subtlety is the key' so if you're going to go for a 3D look, make sure you keep it minimal. Take Happyangi's for example, it's used the stardesign hair but still managed to look real yet not dirty.

Makeover on Ceren.Gk

I decided to do a makeover on 2011's Miss Stardoll World winner, Ceren.Gk since we're in the semi-Finals of Miss Stardoll world.

One of our friends from SBB is in the Semi-Finals for Britain, her username is *Puppyluver101*
